چکیده

The brightness patterns in two successive image frames are used to recover the motion of a planar object without computing the optical flow as an intermediate step. Based on a least-squares formulation, a set of nine nonlinear equations are derived. A simple iterative scheme for solving these equations is presented. Using a selected example, it is shown that in general, the scheme may converge to cither of two possible solutions depending on the initial condition. Only in the special case where the translational motion vector is perpendicular to the surface does our algorithm converge to a unique solution.

Motion Estimation and Tracking Using Multiresolution Affine Models

Motion estimation and tracking are key components in a large number of applications, ranging from the navigation of autonomous vehicles [1] to video data compression [2]. Much research effort have been spent addressing these areas, but designing general and robust solutions to the problems involved has proved difficult. This difficulty stems from the complicated relationship between the motion ...

A New Approach for Quantitative Evaluation of Reconstruction Algorithms in SPECT

ABTRACT Background: In nuclear medicine, phantoms are mainly used to evaluate the overall performance of the imaging systems and practically there is no phantom exclusively designed for the evaluation of the software performance.  In this study the Hoffman brain phantom was used for quantitative evaluation of reconstruction techniques. The phantom is modified to acquire t...

Determining Constant Optical Flow

The original optical flow algorithm [1] dealt with a flow field that could vary from place to place in the image, as would typically occur when a camera is moved through a three-dimensional environment—or if objects moved in front of a fixed camera. A related, but simpler problem, is that of recovering the motion of an image, all parts of which move with the same velocity (section 4.3 in [2]). ...

Estimation of Motion and Structure of 3-d Objects from a Sequence of Images

In this article we analyze the motion of 3-D objects either in terms of image contours or intensity gradients. We make the assumption that the objects viewed are locally rigid and planar. We suppose that the projection is perspective and use the "perspective" velocity vector, which has been introduced by G.L.Scott. We give spatial relations on the "perspective" velocity field both in the case o...
